I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo 740
Hi Folks, I want to say hello to all of you, whether I am not sure if this is the right place in This forum. My swedish is just miserable, but my car makes it necessary to join your community!
First some words to myself: I am Kerstin, 52 years of age and I live in the Black Forest in Germany. My hobbys are cars, I prefer elder cars, so I own a Renault 4, 30 years, two Daihatsu feroza, about 20 and this Christmas a long dream of mine was fulfilled, I was surprised with a Volvo 745, built in 1988, 2,3 l, in light silver with 278000km. It had not sincere problems for our Technical Surveillance (called TÜV). I just love it.
Now we had a few days with very much rain, so the electric roof showed, ist doesnt fit really tight, it was a little wet on the seat. The ways/canals which let the water flow to the ground are open, we checked them already, now we would think about the seal ...(right word for the rubberstuff???) of the roof, which doesnt fit anymore.
I am looking for a technical drawing or any other good picture of the mechanism of this roof to fix it. If anyone of you would be able to help me, I would be very grateful.
At the moment the car gets an original volvo radio and it seems to be the possibility to built in an CD-changer, the cables are there.Maybe some day i will find one, I am not in a hurry.
It is very comfortable to drive but i am not used to the dimension yet....parking like a beginner
I like this car very much and it will stay a lifelong with us...
This was it as a first introduction
Have a nice Silvester, guten Rutsch and a happy New Year!
Kerstin

I don't understand bus lanes. Why do poor people have to get to places quicker than I do?

Nice to meet you too!
Mmmmhhhh it really is a nice car!
Ok, Maxwell, I will start trying translating now!
I would like to buy a "Reparaturhandbuch/Werkstatthandbuch", means a book which shows you all technical details of the Volvo, because we do everything by ourself.
Could you recommend one? In this case english would be my preference, I might be able to get one in German as well.
I will surely take a lot of fotos of my car, I will show them, of course, because I am really proud of it!
But as long as I dont have many I can show you some others, if you are interested...
the following is my Daihatsu Wildcat for going OffRoad. Has almost everything a real car needs

Hynes makes repair manuals for Volvo in Swedish and English. They're quite alright! You will probebly find it in a well-stocked bookstore.

little waterproblems
Hi there again, I wish all of you a Happy New Year.
I had a nice trip with my Volvo, I just enjoy driving it. And since I have get to now it, I drive just for fun, not because I have to.
I try to get to the solution of the problems it has.
First of all, the tissue of the cars sky is not the best anymore, hanging, the foam material seems to be only dust anymore. I enclose some pictures. I will have to change something, but first of all I have to seal up the roof.
We had a little rain last night, there was no puddle on the seat like the first time after a heavy rain, but the water seems to collect at the deepest point. I removed the cover of the closing mechanism and in each turn, more right than left, the water was coming. Not a huge amount but wet!
The drainage pipes all are open.
Maybe you could help me, which steps I have to follow, is there a possibility to change something without taking the whole roof apart?
I heard about some screws to adjust the roof, but I do not know, which they are/could be and how to do?
Maxwell, in the picture you sent me, where are they?

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
The position of my roof is this:
This is it from the outside again: The seats are sort of a metallic green.
And since the fueldisplay does not work yet, I use the counter of kilometers.
It needs about 10,2 liters of fuel/100km.
Have a nice Day and thanks

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
Nice car!
Do you know what fuel injection system you have? LH2.2 or LH2.4 maybe even Regina?
The headlining is a common problem good thing is that you have the estate model so its easy to pull it out and remove the old fabric and foam and re-dress it with something similar ipd sell a kit for that
Any how open the sunroof in vent
Then pull down the flap
Un hock it
Now there is only too metal clips holding it in the front so push it back
Then its just the four screws in the front and the too in the back after that you should be able to take the sunroof out and check the seal.

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
Sorry, I do not know, which fuel injection system it is. It is the B230F motor, if that helps?
By the way...what means Estate Model?
Thanks for your pictures!!

Estate is just a fancier word for the 5-door version of cars and the same for 4-door is saloon.
On LH2.4 there is a self diagnostic terminal on the left strut tower.

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
Estate roughly means family car, a station wagon.
Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
Ok, we just discussed it and came to the same meaning!
I like the straight clear line of it, and lots of space!
I do not fancy the round little plasticthings without any individual personality which drive around, thats why my preference of cars ends somewhen around the midnineties
I think it probably is without the selfdiagnostic thing!
The less the better is my motto...
We do not know very much about the Volvo yet...we are learning
It has commonrail, 4 injectors and muff
And we also found about half of the exhaustmanifold to the airfilterbox...the rest has disappeared. Maybe a Volvodealer can find one.
A new experience, but nothing really serious so i am looking forward to restore everything by the time, but first of all the roof. And as soon it gets warm in spring, i will remove all seats, carpets an have a look underneath.

Hi again,
does someone of you know which cd-changer matches to the CR-906?
In the rear in the right side there is a 8 pin round din plug.
And those pics show a little of the motor and me under my Volvo

Do you mean the seal of the upper part of the roof? We just were studying your pictures.SA4AQS skrev:...

And we meant the seal between the transvercase and the body (roof), so the lower part.
I marked it in a picture: Thanks for your help so far!

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
I think this is the one for 5-door with sun roof, you might buy any fabric you like at a local shop.
http://www.ipdusa.com/products/7576/113 ... dliner-kit
I taugh that you ment the seal around the sun roof then it woud be easy, now you have to take the headlining out but i gues you want to do that any way. I drove around with my car when i was fixing some rust so the interior was almoas compleatly striped and some holes in the floor.
The engine bay looks like it needs some cleaning and what i can see you have LH2.4

Hello Kerstin
Try getting this DVD: http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/ac ... 0/1038448/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You can get it from other places too, but if you order them from a Volvo dealer, make sure you don't go to the parts guy. I asked the parts guy from the dealer in Aachen (just across the border from where I live), he couldn't order them. I later found out that he can't order manuals and stuff, a colleague (maybe the head mechanic?) probably could have ordered them, but by that time, I already ordered them from some other place.
Sincerely
Mathy

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
Thanks for all your ideas and tips!
Today unfortunately is was a wet day, so i had to try to keep my car from bigger damage: I covered the right front seat with rubber mats not to get wet, I had a towel on my lap, cause in every turn to the right, the collected water came onto my right leg, directly from the closing mechanism/motor of the sun roof...
thats not a thing to can be fixed immediately, looking for the exact reason, which parts are necessary, where to get the parts from....and when!
I hope it will be dry again soon. As long as its not frozen or snow I decided to drive the car most of the time, to let it dry thru heating. In case of winter weather I will have to use my Dai, with the 4wheel-drive, otherwise I have a problems with all the ups and downs due to the mountains...
See you
Kerstin

Re: I am new here, I do not speak swedish and I have a Volvo
For a little fix until better whether you coud use some duct tape and cover the edges of the sun roof so no more water can get in
